I enjoy foreign films so reading subtitles are not a problem. Having read all the Wallander books it is a wonderful experience to see this series. Evven though this series is not based on the books. The series builds on the relationship of the characters and leaves enough out to keep you guessing as to what is going on. Everything is not revealed in detail, so you must think about what is going on. It is particularly interesting to learn more about Swedish culture and see their view of violent crime. Very refreshing after seeing a great number of American cop stories. I also enjoy see the Sweden that Makel describes in his books come to life. A refreshing and delightful experience.
